50 year old- I have suffered terrible heavy bleeding for 6 years. Two years ago was placed on a IUD Mirena device that was initially good. Then about 10 months in started bleeding which increased to 3 periods a month, nausea, insomnia etc..... I did go to doctor (they checked and device in place etc.... bullshit). Looking back there were a few thing not quite right. I finally asked for an referral to HD. Had the device taken out 2 months ago and bleed for 6 out of 7 weeks. The amount was awful. No one warned me it might be like this. I actually was depressed, dispare, anxious etc.... it was the worst two months of my life. Then went to doctor and she has put me on BC pill to stop the bleeding. I have decided to do an endro abulation now (which no one ever suggested). My query is how do I take my self off BC with out a meltdown? Have felt nauseous, cramps, headache, slight brain fog, no energy, anxious, etc.... since on the pill. Detox suggestions please, to balance those hormones. I want to fell myself again

I'm 47, soon to be 48. I had a hysterectomy 8 years ago due to several benign cysts and polyps in my uterus causing severe pain and heavy bleeding. I have been experiencing several signs of menopause. But this severe nausea and hot flashes have recently started. I'm on day three of Amberen. I sure hope it begins to help me soon. Any suggestions from anyone? I also have a very stressful job, and I read that stress can trigger the symptoms even more. Help

Hi Stephanie Nausea is a common symptom in the menopause and can be caused by several factors. Fluctuating oestrogen levels can be a trigger (a bit like morning sickness in pregnancy!) but falling oestrogen levels can also affect the digestion, leading to a stressed liver, which in turn can cause nausea. You may find taking Milk Thistle Complex helpful, as this is traditionally used to support the liver, and you could add in a soya isoflavone supplement such as Menopause Support. This is used to help gently raise and balance oestrogen levels, thus reducing symptoms. Nausea can be caused by other factors, however, such as low blood sugar or dehydration; so do make sure that you are eating a good diet, with healthy snacks between meals, and drink plenty of plain water as well as your other drinks. Stress can play a huge part in menopause symptoms so trying to keep in under control either through stress remedies or relaxation/deep breathing can be of great benefit.
