My periods stopped when I was 54 years old, though I had to endure 2 years of scatty, unreliable periods, some of which were extremely heavy and lasted up to a week. After they stopped I was feeling great, there were no real issues, though I was putting on weight which had never been an issue for me before. Then the hot flushes came along, usually at the most inconvenient times. After 2 years I lost confidence, thought I didn't have many friends, stopped socialising and went into my shell. I get confused and I cry at anything. I can't make any decisions and I get stressed very easily. I feel as though I am losing my mind. It was suggested that I go on HRT. Is there an alternative? I don't want to take drugs.
