OK. I think things are beginning to work. My period stopped and the hot flashes are just starting to ease!! Many thanks for that one. I saw the doctor but they are unwilling to give HRT as I suffer with migraines. I have a review next month to keep a watch on how I go. Normally I would appear to be a candidate for HRT but it seems this could cause stokes with migraine. What are the risks and benefits in my case.

Hello Brenda, Side effects associated with HRT are different depending on the type of HRT that you are being offered. The doctor can advise you on specific ones related to you and advise on any short term or long term benefits. Here at A Vogel we tend to advocate a more natural approach with our Menopause support tablets, this is a plant based option. Although we understand every women is individual and stress, health and lifestyle can play a role. If I can be of further assistance let me know.

So here I am suffering again. I've brought my sage and vitamin B, please tell me how long it takes to work. I've also just got my period and it's really heavy. Right from the start I am using night towels and 1 per hour at that. I am sorry to keep bothering you but need your help again

Hi Brenda, No problem, you are welcome to contact me! Sage usually takes between several days to a few weeks to kick in and the same with the B Vits. If your periods are really heavy or you are flooding it is really important to check this with your doctor, this can make you low in iron very quickly which can then lead to other health issues. Your doctor can test your iron level and offer a supplement if necessary.

Thank you so much for your advice. Will definitely try this. Apparently doctors only prescribe HRT in extreme cases these days so I am checking these things out. Keen to do without HRT anyway. Thank you will let you know how I go!

My problem is hot flashes. I have around 20 per day. I was feeling good that I've got this far with no medical help but yesterday I felt faint and sick with a severe hot flash. Any suggestions or advice gratefully received!!

Hi B LIGHT Flushes accompanied by faintness and/or nausea are often caused by a surge of adrenaline from the nervous system so supporting the nervous system can often help. I would suggest sage for the flushes and a magnesium supplement 200mg twice a day and a vitamin B Complex for the nervous system. Dehydration can often be a factor, flushes cause dehydration and dehydration can stress the nervous system leading to adrenalin and then more flushes - this can quickly become a vicious cycle so remember plenty of water! Also look back to just before all this started, were you extra stressed, upset about something, extra busy or tired or run down as all these kinds of situations can make symptoms worse. Low blood sugars can do this too so it is important to eat well and don't go long periods on an empty stomach
